memorial day. this year is different than any other year. we had lemon ricotta pancakes for breakfast. but that's not why it's different, i'll get to that later. thanks to my mom (C the G for Cristie the Great) we had a splendid meal. say hello to my brother and his wife, Ben and Maren on the right.
WWII Veteran, Murry Price holds up his Air Force Photo taken after he completed training.
this is why this year is different. the past week i have been listening to WWII Veterans tell stories. they talked about walking around in below freezing temperatures on Christmas day, leaving their friends behind doomed for enemy capture, Pearl Harbor eye witnesses accounts of bombs, smokes, and lives, Air Force pilots going through training, finding their wives, falling in love only to return from the war a completely different person. these veterans shared their stories with 5th and 6th graders in Augusta, GA, and Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston, SC as part of SUBWAY's Kids with Vets program. their stories have made this memorial day different for me. i have more to remember this year.
