One Month Bloomed

This little blossom is one month old today. I couldn't be more grateful for her. And also more fed up. She's everything she's supposed to be, and we are so lucky and blessed.

She is a good eater and Christian fed her her first bottle today! I am glad she's learning early that food is very important around here. She's growing a ton. I have this weird fear sometimes that I'm going to put her down in her crib and when she wakes up she'll be in kindergarten.

She sleeps great--usually wakes up for a 3 AM(ish) and a 6 AM(ish) feeding. We've probably only had three or four nights where she's been up more than that.  I think that's pretty much amazing and I'm sure that's why I am feeling as good as I am.  Sleep is the best medicine (other than good food, of course!).

She loves her dad. We've missed him a lot lately since he's racing toward another tax deadline. Busy season is not an ideal time to have a baby, but for some reason that's when she was sent to us. I am trying to learn what I'm supposed to learn...as of now it's a lot of long-suffering and how to get infant poop out of anything.  Surprisingly I've felt a lot of compassion lately. I didn't expect that to be something caring for a baby teaches, and I'm sure that won't be the first surprise-lesson either. I've also learned the art of spontaneous song-writing. I've come up with some really awesome "bouncing" songs. In addition to my originals, Rosie loves anything by James Taylor. Now that's my girl, for sure.

  1. She is SUCH a doll. I remember those adjustment days...it never changes. You are always trying to adjust to a different phase that they are in and it is so fun (most of the time)! Glad you are doing well. Lexie was a great sleeper too, so I usually felt really great. Keep posting pictures of that cutie! - Michelle

  2. Such a cute, darling little thing. You'll be so happy you're writing all this down. I think you could have a new business with the song writing thing :)

  3. How can a baby who's only a month old look so much like her mom?

Congratulations. This is a great time of life for you.

  4. She is beautiful! Congrats on the arrival! Isn't being a mother the most wonderful and exhausting thing you've ever experienced. I can't wait to meet her.
