September Food

The fall is always a good time for food. First, you've got the freshly harvested crops--my favorite are corn, apples, peaches and squash, and you also have the temperature getting a bit cooler and warm comfort foods begin to creep into the kitchen.

Harvest

The Food Co-op is AMAZING!I was so excited when I picked up our food on Saturday. It's the best deal ever. For $25, we got

1 loaf of stone ground wheat bread
16 oz brown rice
1 jar peach jam
chicken nuggets (sounds like an easy meal to me)
5 apples
5 pears
4 peaches
4 tomatoes
2 bunches of radishes
3 artichokes
3 green peppers

Comfort

And, I was dying to make an apple pie with some apples I got from my Grandpa's farm. Jamie and I made pies together. I recommend the crumb topping for any fruit pie! Delicious.
